Capture and Inbox

Save a thought from any app in a second and let Kajero propose where it belongs.

Quick capture

⌥Space opens a small panel over any app, with the cursor already in it. The shortcut is global, so it works while Kajero is in the background.

  • Write as much as you like; the field is multiline.
  • ⌘↵ saves the note to the Inbox at once. Saving never waits for AI.
  • ⌘O saves and opens the note in the editor.
  • Esc discards it.

Change the shortcut in Settings › General: the button records the next combination you press. Kajero refuses combinations without a modifier and ones another app already holds, and shows the reason.

macOS cannot tell whether another app already holds a global shortcut. ChatGPT, for example, also uses ⌥Space. If capture does nothing, choose another combination in Settings.

The Inbox

Captured notes land in the Inbox, outside of every workspace. The Inbox lists every note you have not filed yet. Press G then I in the note list to jump there.

Suggested place

With an AI provider connected (see AI providers), Kajero proposes a title, workspace, folder and tags for each Inbox note. The proposal shows as chips on the note:

  • ↵ accepts everything.
  • 1 to 4 edits the title, workspace, folder or tags by hand.
  • Esc leaves the note in the Inbox.
  • ⇧↵ files all notes whose proposals are ready.

Proposals prefer folders and tags you already have. A tag that would be new is marked as new. Kajero never files a note without your confirmation. Without a provider you file notes by hand with the same form.

New notes you create inside a workspace get tag proposals too; they apply only when you accept them.

Voice

Kajero has no voice input of its own. A dictation tool such as VoiceInk types into the focused field, which includes the capture panel.
