Kajero

AI providers

Use your own API key or a local model. Kajero runs no AI service and bills nothing.

Kajero has no AI backend. You connect a provider you already use, and your notes go from your Mac straight to that provider. Kajero sells no AI credits, takes no cut and relays nothing. Until you connect a provider, AI stays off and the rest of the app works.

Add a provider

  1. Open Settings › AI (⌘,).
  2. Choose Add provider…, pick the kind and paste the key.
  3. Save. Kajero checks the key with one short request before it stores anything.

The key is stored encrypted with macOS safeStorage. It is write-only: Settings shows "Key stored" and never the key itself, and it is readable only in the app's main process.

One model per task

Under Models, Chat, Inline and Triage each pick a provider and a model. Setup chooses the provider's recommended models. Triage works with a small, cheap model.

Ollama

Install Ollama, pull a model and add an Ollama provider. The base URL is optional and defaults to the local server. With a local model nothing leaves your Mac.

OpenRouter

Add an OpenRouter provider with a key from your OpenRouter account. Usage is billed to your OpenRouter credits. A sign-in flow that returns the key for you is planned; today you paste it.

Continue with ChatGPT (coming)

Signing in with a ChatGPT account, so that Go, Plus and Pro plans pay for the usage, is planned and not shipped. It needs OpenAI's approval for a paid build first. Until then, use a key.

What is sent where

Each feature sends the text it needs to your provider: the paragraph for inline AI, the notes a question needs for a chat or an answer. Kajero shows which notes it sent. Changes the AI makes arrive as suggestions you accept or reject, and every one is recorded as a revision. See Privacy and your data.
